CHILDREN & FAMILIES

These shoots have to be my all time favourite.

As a Mother myself, nothing makes me happier than seeing my kids play and have a good time. It is for this reason that I recommend outdoor shoots for families & children from 6 months of age onwards. I believe capturing them in a natural & fun environment is much more effective than trying to make them sit still in front of a backdrop, which, in my experience can make them bored & irritated. I will explore and adventure with your little one/s and we can create some beautiful images that capture your children’s personalities perfectly.

What is the Cost for a Children & Families session?

For a session, I charge $500 and that includes the photo shoot at a location of your choice plus a USB with 15 edited, high resolution, digital images with permission for you to share and print the photos anywhere you wish.

When & how should I book?

It starts with you getting in touch with me & letting me know that you’re interested in booking a session. Let me know what dates work for you via my contact page or you can e-mail, phone or text me.
First in, best dressed, so if you’re after a specific date then the earlier you can get in touch, the better.

Once we have discussed and agreed on a date for your session I require a $100 non-refundable deposit to book you in. This can be paid in cash, bank transfer or direct bank deposit. This amount will then be deducted from the cost of your session, which will be due to be paid by the date of your shoot. If for some reason we have to postpone your session, you will not loose your deposit; it will go toward the shoot on the new agreed upon date.
Unfortunately I cannot hold session dates or times until a deposit has been paid.

Once your photo shoot date is booked we will discuss what type of feel you are looking for in your photographs and we can then work together to come up with the perfect location.

What should I expect?

After your session I will begin working on your images.
Approximately 2 to 3 weeks after your session, we will arrange a suitable time for you to view your digital images in the studio. They will be presented in a mixture of colour and black and white & you can select your 15 favourite shots to take home that day.
You will also have the option to purchase more digital files if you wish.

Do you offer prints, albums & canvasses?

YES! I offer a variety of packages including different product options and I also have an a-la-carte menu of extras. I will email you all of the information (including extra digital image prices) before or after your session if you wish.
I will have all of these products available for you to see during your viewing appointment.
I think everyone should have printed photos, don’t let them just sit on a USB! I LOVE album design and there’s just something about canvasses and fresh prints.
I definitely recommend creating something beautiful out of your digital images, whether you do them yourself or have me print them for you at my favourite pro lab. The choice is yours.
I cannot stress enough the benefits of using a professional printer so please let me know if I can recommend a great lab or I can arrange your prints for you.

What should we wear/bring to our session?

I recommend choosing items that represent you & who you are. I personally love neutral colours and enjoy working with textures and layers (read more on this at the bottom of this answer if you wish). But please don’t be afraid of using colours or patterns! It is best to keep your clothing simple, so try to stay away from anything too busy, outfits that clash and any items that have pictures, writing or logos. Feel free to bring along a few different options so that we can put together outfits that will work perfectly for your session.

In family photos, colour coordinating is more pleasing to the eye, because of my more relaxed and candid style of photography, I don’t suggest anything too formal. It’s ok to get creative with your outfits, the goal being for everyone to compliment each other, without being too matchy-matchy.
Gone are the days where everyone wears the same blue denim jeans and matching white tops.
Pick an accent colour (for example, navy blue) and get everyone to wear one item of that colour. This will tie everyone together so that you’re all coordinating but not entirely matching. For example, Mum might be wearing a navy blue scarf & beanie, Dad might have navy blue pants on and your child may have a navy blue knitted jumper, vest or jacket.

You can also add your accent into whatever you wish, for example, your jewelry, shoes, layers, scarf and hair/head accessories, like beanies etc. It adds that extra flair you need to make for a fun, unique picture.

Layers and texture look great in photos.
By adding a jacket, cardi or fun scarf, not only does it make the picture look more complete, you can drop the layers toward the end of the shoot for a completely different look.

You can bring anything you’d like in a photo along to your session. If your child/children have a favorite toy, a special stuffed animal, a story book or an important hand made blanket etc. then please, bring it along. This can not only make your child feel more comfortable by having something that they love with them, but it also adds that personal touch to your images.

IF IN DOUBT JUST ASK ME

If you have any other questions regarding your shoot at all, please do not hesitate to ask me.

Each photographer has a different style & it’s important to pick a photographer whose style you like. When you can match that style with your own, you will love the outcome.

I want to get excited with you and help plan your vision. When I know what you are wearing and understand the feel you are going for (casual, fun, formal, etc.), it will make the photo shoot come together beautifully.
